Laps on the new chimney
After John and Larry installed the belay anchors on the 35' chimney, outside the new student residence, we gave it a trial run yesterday. Hock - as headmaster - got the first ascent, followed quickly by Mike and Larry. After running several laps then it was time for the youngest staff children to take over ... Peter in his full-body harness is clearly working out the moves! This will be a great edition to an amazingly beautiful and creative house. Designed as a net-zero energy use building, full of nooks and crannies, as well as a slide from the second to the ground floor, all capped by a round room at top, with windows offering a staggering 360 degree view. The initial routes - right, left, and center - seemed in the 5.1 - 5.3 range.
