Another great day in the Rockies

I ran in/out of Sky Pond (17k and 2000'), it was great to look at the routes on Petite Grepon and Sharkstooth that I did so many years ago.

Another wonderful sunset

The boys back from MacGregor

Brian and Gary completed the 8 pitch 5.7 route. Mark and I never really found the easy fifth class route I wanted to lead and we bailed after two pitches that I lead.

Sunset on the Continental Divide

Spectacular view from the deck of the canyon. Brian's high school buddy Douglas was very generous in letting us use it for the week.

An easy day in Estes Park

We got some bum beta about MacGregor's Slab and so went to the Mountain Shop and got a full description from a local rock jockette.

On her recommendation we climbed at Mary's Lake and then checked out a sport climbing area known as Mary's Bust ... there was very little that was in our ability range.

Afternoon at Lumpy

Went to Eagle Rock which our 30 year old guidebook said had some of the best easy routes in the area. Unfortunately now it is private property.

We got a late start to Rock One, after a pitch I whined and so Gary and I bailed. The other guys had a headlamp and a guidebook, I was sensing an epic in the making.

Nice shot if someone doing the classic 5.8 on Twin Owls.

El Presidente Arrives

Another alpine style packing job ... two people need to carry the bag into the cabin!

Alpine flowers

We occasionally stop to smell the roses!

Hock ... asking ... "Cake or Cookies"

OBVIOUSLY NOT MY FORTE!

Batman And Robin

Felt a lot harder than 5.6-5.7 as my crack climbing skills are pretty rusty. It certainly deserves its three star rating. The raps down a chossy gully were no fun.

Great day on Lumpy Ridge

We got a little lost on the approach but the climb was superb ... BATMAN AND ROBIN (5.7).

ALPINE STYLE

When you read all the magazines it's all about "light is right." However, the fossils bring everything but the kitchen sink.

Heading to Denver

One of my in-flight choices was Casablanca ... "I'm shocked to find there is gambling on the premises."

Belated birthday card

One picture seemed to accurately characterize me as a member of the Fossil Club! Guess which one?

Counting the days until Lumpy Ridge

Feeling fit. I went for a hilly 50 minute run in the biathlon trails in the morning, and then after an early dinner did lots of laps on a very wet "Hock's Blessing" (5.6).

Ultra-marathons

As I think about picking out a fall event to run, I came across this full length video, of the most famous one.

What is sky running?

Lucy training with the big dogs

At least three top ten juniors in the training group ... the day after this long hike Lucy set a PR in the double pole time trial.

Is the Pacific Northwest doomed?

I am not a geologist .., it seems persuasive, and I may climb there from time to time, but I am definitely not buying any real estate in the Cascades!

Great day in the White Mountains

Dick, Ted, and Harry rode the hundred mile Prouty. While I did a 20k+ run, which included a time trial up mount Moosilauke.
