Increasing the vertical ... getting ready for the Cordillera Blanca and Chamonix

I had a nine-hour car trip which I broke up with a stop at Sandy's Books and Bakery, as well as some hiking on Whaleback Ski Area on the return trip. I also picked up some ticks on the hike.
