Performance at high altitude

A good article with two caveats: First, I believe there is strong data that suggests if you are competing in a trail run or nordic race at moderate altitude (6-9,000 feet) unless you can get there six days ahead, you should arrive at altitude as close to the race as possible.  Second, outside of my pay grade, but interesting data shows benefits of using altitude tents prior to arrival at your destination altitude.
