Haute Route Miscellany

First completed as a walking route, the High Level Route (HLR) was often done in the mid to late 19th century by members of British Alpine Club. The tour from Chamonix to Zermatt is still a popular summer hiking excursion. It was first skied in January 1911, and so we will be doing a 100th anniversary trip. Finally, in 2008 the record for the Haute Route in a day was set by Bonnel and Brosse in 21 hours, 11 minutes.
